New Items on Third Friday...Primitive Handmades Mercantile

I hope this finds you enjoying a wonderful Summer evening! We had a lovely day today, the clouds parted, sun was shining and the temp was just perfect!! We truly enjoy our blue sky here in the Pacific Northwest, they have been far and few between, but when they do make an appearance, well...we get just giddy around here!!
Please stop by our Third Friday at Primitive Handmades Mercantile, we have been very busy creating!! For my post, I have made two fabric covered boxes with a pincushion topper. They come with a pair of reproduction scissors. I have added rusty pins, mop buttons and pins. Perfect size to store all your sewing needs. I have made three primitive angels, each with burlap skirts and wings, I have added vintage coverlet pieces to accent, vintage clothespins and spun flax for their hair. They are securely attached to vintage wooden spindles that I purchased while antiquing with my sis in Minnesota. Once again, I hope you are enjoying a lovely Summer, stop by the Mercantile and see what our ladies have been up to!

Happy Independence Day!!

Miss Liberty and Uncle Sam wish you and yours a safe and happy Independence Day!!! We are still patiently waiting for summer to arrive here in the Pacific Northwest....it has been so cold and dreary...I do feel sorry for the 100* temps that everyone seems to be having....but rain and 60* is getting old. Would a little blue sky be too much to ask for? :) Well, maybe the sun will come out today!! Always hopefull!!
I have made Miss Liberty and Uncle Sam from a pattern by SweetPeaPrimitives, if you should be interested, please send me an email. I hope this finds you enjoying a lovely relaxing Sunday, with family and friends you  hold dear..........as for me........cuddling with my sweet Grandbabies.
Happy 4th of July!!!

My Four Year Anniversary! Give Away Time!!

I cannot believe it has been 4 years since I have started blogging! Goodness, where does the time go? I must say, I have not blogged as much as I would like to. I just adore my Grand babies, and try to spend as much time as I can with them, they are truly my pure joy! I still keep busy with my primitives, and try to keep my deadlines current for both my TDIPT and Primitive Handmades Mercantile. I know if I didn't have those dates to keep me motivated, well, I wouldn't get much done!  I have just finished another hooked rug, I wish I had more time to "hook", it is so relaxing, and brings so much joy!! I have also been trying to read more!! I used to be an avid reader and have felt guilty I have not kept up with it, my sweet husband gave me a Kindle for Christmas, I am doing my best to read a little every night! My sweet Grand babies love Dr Seuss! So Grandma gets some reading time during the day too! :)  I want to thank each and everyone of you who stop in from time to time!  I am giving away a sweet little strawberry pin keep! I just love making them! I would love for someone out there to win this, along with the strawberry pin keep I will add some "extra" primitive goodies :), I love surprises, don't you!! So all you need to do is leave a comment! I will draw the winning blogger on June 15th!! I will post the winner that evening!! Thank you again for all your kind comments, I love hearing from you!! I hope this finds you enjoying a lovely sunny day!!

Our Newest Addition

Motherhood's Reward

She rocks another baby...

hums an age-old lullaby.

She hopes no one is watching

as with thanks, she starts to cry

Remembering the time

when the babies were her own,

And her mother told her gently

too soon they would be grown.

Lots of bedtime stories,

skinned knees, and tears to dry,

Teddy bears, toy trucks and dolls

and kites up in the sky.

First days of school, first loves, first cars,

the proms, the wedding days,

Sand castles and snowball fights

and teaching them to pray.

Now, as she holds her grandchild

and gives thanks unto the Lord,

She knows to be a grandma

is motherhood's reward!

Our little Grandson, Bryce Phillip Holland has brought us so much joy!! We are so happy to welcome him to our family, such a joy!! I posted this poem when my Granddaughter was born, and I had to post again!! It says exactly how I feel, what a wonderful reward for a Mother.......to become a Grandmother!!
We are blessed!!
